Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have actually been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines via the web.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is vital that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.

"These types of products being sold, normally online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their security.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
